TIDAL was founded 1999 by me, Jörn Janczak, when I was 24 years old. I just had one main goal: to build the best speakers in the world.
Not defined by building the biggest ones, not defined by building the most expensive ones or any other cheap aspect. And for sure I never intended to create the most famous brand in the world, since such motivation is almost ever contrary to the result. Just the finest at all.

Granted, in a market where many manufacturers make similar claims or simply state that a product is worthy of high regard due to sheer weight, size and price, this philosophy may seem naive. However, one needs to adopt this demanding philosophy as a benchmark to create extraordinary products with the understanding that "the best hi-fi component in the world" will probably never exist, because it goes hand inhand with talking about the hearing - and this is and will be always a subjective experience, influenced by used habit and different taste.

If it comes to objective things then one could start to argue about it and will find out pretty easy what is "the best and what not", but this is another story...
So, today, after 10 years of hard work and passion I can look back and feel deeply satisfied about fulfilling my dream when I started, and what incontestable reputation we had created with TIDAL.

Enthusiastic clients worldwide enjoy our exclusive handcrafted masterpieces. Their satisfaction and references helped us garner an excellent reputation and confirmed that TIDAL Audio creates world-class equipment, handmade in Germany.
The fact that we also developed reference quality amplifiers, with the same driving philosophy of creating the best, shows that TIDAL is growing and developing.

TIDAL was originally located in a classy old home situated in Germany's capital of musical culture, Leipzig.
From the very first beginning we delivered all TIDAL products with our standard trademark: real black piano finish in a quality never before seen in speakers. We were the first producer, worldwide, to provide these noble surfaces as a standard feature on all models.
Our exquisite polished lacquer is a central part of the TIDAL philosophy. We receive consistent praise from our clients, dealers and importers as providing the finest finishes available.

In 2002, we began development on our reference amplifiers. We engaged the genious amplifier designer L. Bräun exclusively as the head of our unique amplifier concepts and Jörn designed the cabinets and leads the feather behind this project. So we have two highly specialized heads behind both fields, speakers and amplifiers. Otherwise we would never be able to offer reference products out of one hand.

TIDAL hand makes every product. Our loudspeakers and amplifiers are a labour of love, meticulously crafted by talented and dedicated people who love what they do. We are not a mass production manufacturer nor are we a basement DIY kit producer. Only by hand building and testing each product can we maintain the highest, most exacting standards. A TIDAL audio product will always be an exclusive and limited pleasure.

--Jürgen Meehsen

TIDAL grew faster than we anticipated and in 2003 we moved to Cologne to take advantage of the strongest economy in Germany.
We now had bigger stock and production areas. With Jürgen Meehsen we were able to grow our product line with new loudspeaker models since he supported us financially and is responsible for the TIDAL book-keeping work.

As you will discover, by all of our efforts, we do not offer imitations nor do we strive to keep up with the status quo. Also we are very aware of the fact that we offer only products in the 'super territory' if it comes to prices - but we will never consider designing and building a product by how much it will cost later. Our only goal is to offer you an overwhelming priceless experience for your ears, eyes and hands, which can be summarized in three words: we build emotions.

Thank you very much for taking the time to visit this website and many wonderful hours with any hifi component you like to listen to, wether it is a TIDAL or not. Since this is all we share and have in common - the fun and pleasure of reproducing music in our homes.

with best regards,
Jörn Janczak
